The Introductction of Colchicine
Colchicine, an alkaloid extracted from the bulbs and seeds of Colchicum, a plant of the lily family, is naturally present in the lily family Garlandia and Lijiang Mountain Cichlid, with contents of 0.11% and 0.1%, respectively. Light yellow needle-like crystals. Slightly smelly, bitter taste. Melting point 157℃, easily soluble in cold water, alcohol, chloroform and formaldehyde, poorly soluble in hot water, not easily soluble in benzene and ethe*, almost insoluble in petroleum ethe*. pH of 0.5% solution is 5.9, and the toxicity can be reduced after hydrolysis by ammonia.
Colchicine inhibits mitosis, destroys spindle, and causes chromosomes to stagnate at mid-division. This abnormal division caused by colchicine is called colchicine mitosis. In such mitosis, although the chromosomes divide longitudinally, the cell does not divide and cannot form two daughter cells, thus doubling the chromosomes. Therefore, colchicine has mitosis-inhibiting and antitumor effects.
The Application & Function of Colchicine
Tizanidine hydrochloride is used for the treatment of skeletal muscle hypertonia, myospasm and myotonia due to traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, cerebral hemorrhage, encephalitis, and multiple sclerosis.
Toxic side effects
When tizanidine hydrochloride tablets are applied at the recommended low dose to relieve painful myospasm, adverse effects are rare and include drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, and a mild decrease in blood pressure, usually mild and transient. These adverse reactions, mainly drowsiness, dry mouth, and dizziness, are more common and pronounced when applying the recommended high dose of tizanidine hydrochloride tablets for the treatment of central myasthenia gravis, although they are rarely severe enough to warrant discontinuation of therapy.
